"Whatever you're carrying: anxiety, trauma, the weight of new motherhood. It isn't meant to be carried alone. Healing is possible."
Geraldine Kuphal, LMFT, PMH-CWhether you're a new mom whose anxiety won't quiet down, someone carrying the weight of a difficult birth, or an adult dealing with trauma, OCD, or panic: specialized support exists, and it can help.
I've spent over 15 years helping people in Portland and across Oregon feel calm, grounded, and like themselves again. I collaborate closely with Providence, OHSU, local doulas, and lactation consultants to provide coordinated care for new and expecting families.

Each service page goes deep: what that specific kind of therapy looks like for Oregon clients, what to expect, and how we'll work together. Evidence-based, compassionate, and tailored to your story.
I don't just cover these areas. This is what I specialize in. The PMH-C credential, EMDR training, and 15+ years of clinical experience all add up to care that goes further than a generalist can offer.

Private pay: $170/session · Initial assessment $220 · Sliding scale available
Oregon sessions run 6am through 2pm, including early morning slots for before-work clients and lunch hour appointments.
Starting therapy while managing a newborn, a pregnancy, or the weight of trauma takes real courage. Every part of this practice is designed to remove barriers between you and the support you need.
I've spent 15+ years working in mental health: preschools, shelters, crisis hotlines, community agencies, and now private practice. In recent years, I added advanced specialty training as a PMH-C Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist and EMDR-trained therapist, so you get both broad clinical experience and focused expertise. Evidence-based and down-to-earth.
Sessions happen wherever you are: on a lunch break, from home, from your office, or wherever you can find a private moment. No commute, no waiting room, no logistics to wrestle with. Flexible scheduling that fits therapy into a real, full life.
Whether you're in NE Portland, Beaverton, Oregon City, Eugene, or a rural community, telehealth meets you where you are. No driving, no parking, no childcare logistics to navigate just to get to an appointment.
I accept OHP/CareOregon, Moda Health, Pacific Source, Trillium, and Health Share. Private pay is also available for clients who prefer increased confidentiality and no insurance restrictions. Sliding scale spots available.
I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience in mental health. In recent years, I've added advanced specialty training as a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, and as an EMDR-trained therapist for trauma work across all life stages.
I'm bilingual in English and Spanish. I collaborate regularly with Providence, OHSU, and local doula and lactation consultant networks across Oregon, so your care doesn't happen in isolation.

If you've never been to therapy before, or just haven't done telehealth, you're not alone in having questions. Here are the ones I hear most often.
The initial consultation is a chance to talk briefly about what you're experiencing and whether I'm the right fit. It's not a therapy session; it's a conversation. You can ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and decide without any pressure.
There's no commitment required. If I'm not the right therapist for your situation, I'll do my best to point you toward someone who is.
Insurance can be a wonderful resource, and I accept several Oregon plans. But some clients choose private pay because it offers greater privacy and flexibility:
Private pay rates: $170/session · Initial assessment $220 · Sliding scale available upon request.
In Oregon, I accept: OHP / CareOregon, Moda Health, Pacific Source, Trillium Health, and Health Share of Oregon.
If you're not sure whether your plan is covered, I'm happy to clarify during our consultation call.
A few options are available to you:
The first step is booking the free 15-minute phone call; there's nothing to prepare. We'll talk about what's going on for you, I'll explain how I work, and you can ask whatever you'd like.
If we decide to move forward, I'll send intake paperwork electronically before your first session. Sessions are via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform; you just need a phone or computer and a private space. Most people find the first session feels easier than they expected.
Yes: research consistently shows telehealth is as effective as in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, and perinatal mental health.
For new and expecting moms especially, telehealth often works better: no childcare to arrange, no commute while exhausted, no rushing out the door. You can do a session from your couch, your car, or your bed. The quality of care stays exactly the same.
A free 15-minute phone consultation is the first step. We'll talk about what you're going through and whether we're a good fit, no pressure, no commitment.
