"Whatever you're carrying: anxiety, trauma, the weight of new motherhood. It isn't meant to be carried alone. Healing is possible."

Everything you're wondering about getting started

If you've never been to therapy before, or just haven't done telehealth, you're not alone in having questions. Here are the ones I hear most often.

What is the free 15-minute phone call for?

+

The initial consultation is a chance to talk briefly about what you're experiencing and whether I'm the right fit. It's not a therapy session; it's a conversation. You can ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and decide without any pressure.

There's no commitment required. If I'm not the right therapist for your situation, I'll do my best to point you toward someone who is.

Why choose private pay (out-of-pocket)?

+

Insurance can be a wonderful resource, and I accept several Oregon plans. But some clients choose private pay because it offers greater privacy and flexibility:

  • No mental health diagnosis required to receive care
  • Your records aren't shared with your insurer
  • No limit on the number of sessions
  • More flexibility in what we work on together

Private pay rates: $170/session · Initial assessment $220 · Sliding scale available upon request.

What insurances do you accept?

+

In Oregon, I accept: OHP / CareOregon, Moda Health, Pacific Source, Trillium Health, and Health Share of Oregon.

If you're not sure whether your plan is covered, I'm happy to clarify during our consultation call.

What if you don't take my insurance?

+

A few options are available to you:

  • Private pay: pay out-of-pocket at the rates above
  • Superbill / out-of-network reimbursement: I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurer. Many PPO plans reimburse a portion of out-of-network therapy. Ask your insurer about out-of-network mental health benefits before we start.
  • Sliding scale: a limited number of reduced-rate spots are available. Please mention this during our consultation if cost is a barrier.

I've never been to therapy before. How do I start?

+

The first step is booking the free 15-minute phone call; there's nothing to prepare. We'll talk about what's going on for you, I'll explain how I work, and you can ask whatever you'd like.

If we decide to move forward, I'll send intake paperwork electronically before your first session. Sessions are via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform; you just need a phone or computer and a private space. Most people find the first session feels easier than they expected.

Is telehealth therapy actually effective?

+

Yes: research consistently shows telehealth is as effective as in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, and perinatal mental health.

For new and expecting moms especially, telehealth often works better: no childcare to arrange, no commute while exhausted, no rushing out the door. You can do a session from your couch, your car, or your bed. The quality of care stays exactly the same.
